BestPack: Dedicated To Finding Innovative, Creative Solutions For Their Customers -Interview of President, David Liim, by Packaging & Processing for PMMI Chicago 2008 P&P: Tell our readers a little about BestPack Packaging. D&L: BestPack Packaging is the worldwide leader in carton sealing machinery with presence in over 40 countries worldwide. For the last 25 years in North America, we have developed the largest line of carton sealers with over 90 models. And in the last couple of years, have begun to sell a specially formulated carton sealing tape line that works perfectly with any line of carton sealing equipment. P&P: What would you say makes your company unique? D&L: BestPack is dedicated to find innovative and creative solutions for our customers. That's the reason for over 90 models. Most of these standard pieces of equipment used to be custom applications that we have perfected over the years. We are not scared to customize and find that solution for the customer. P&P: Are you introducing any new products at this time? D&L: Three years ago we introduced our new line of acrylic based packaging tape. This year, we are thrilled to introduce our line of hot melt packaging tape. It is produced in the same ISO 9001 and 14001 certified facility as our proven line of acrylic tape. P&P: Where is BestPack's current product emphasis? D&L: Our main focus this year would have to be on carton sealers packaged with our machine rolls packaging tape. We have specially formulated our machine roll packaging tape to provide a consistent and professional seal when used with our carton sealing equipment. We believe this packaging has value and provides cost savings and increased productivity for our clients. P&P: Compare the position of your products and their technology against the current market. D&L: Our carton sealers have always been unique in their design. With our patented hi-speed carton sealing equipment, we are able to increase the output by 1.5 times the output of our standard line of sealers with only a minimal increase in costs. Our Taphehead, the heard of the machine, is the reason for this capability, and we are proud to have the most efficient and durable tapehead in the marketplace. P&P: Who are your target end-users? D&L: Currently, we are targetting the food and bakery industry. We have stainless steel models available and have also had much R&D into this industry already. We are experienced in this arena and hope to expand and help these companies find the solutions they are looking for. P&P: Tell our readers about your plans here at the show. D&L: Currently, we have a promotion running where and end-user can purchase a basic cartons ealer for $2500! This promotion is for a limited time, but it gives people the opportunity to automate their facility at an affordable price. P&P: How do you see the next year in terms of economy, sales, technology and product evolution? D&L: Next year, we look to continue in our R&D efforts. Our new retrofit tapehead program will be targeted to fit our patented tapehead into any brand carton sealer. This gives our clients the flexibility to use our head in machinery already purchased from our competition. We are also always improving and coming out with new models for custom applications, so alway check us out on the Web to find new models and promotions that will be coming out this year. |
