ABOUT JD PACKAGING
JD Packaging Equipment Sales & Service helps customers solve packaging problems through equipment, service, and hands-on support. Owner Jeremy Jackson came into the business with an operations and maintenance mindset, so his approach has always been practical: use equipment that fits the job, is straightforward to run, and can be supported after it is installed.
As JD Packaging grew, customer needs began extending beyond the equipment itself. Some customers needed products grouped, shrink wrapped, prepared, or otherwise packaged before they could move to the next step. That created an opportunity for JD Packaging to do more than recommend equipment. The company could use packaging equipment inside its own operation and take on work directly.
THE CHALLENGE
Expanding into packaging services created a different requirement than simply reselling a machine. JD Packaging needed equipment it could depend on for real customer jobs, including shorter runs and changing applications.
A large, highly automated line would have been more than the operation needed. The solution had to be flexible enough for different projects, simple enough for an operator to use without a long setup process, and compact enough to fit the space available. It also had to produce a consistent finished package so JD Packaging could confidently put its name behind the work.
That meant the machine needed to do two jobs well: help JD Packaging complete customer projects and give Jeremy firsthand experience with the type of equipment he recommends to others.
HOW BESTPACK SOLVED IT
JD Packaging added the BPX 1519-ECMC, a semi-automatic L-bar shrink sealer and tunnel combination. The system gives the operator control over loading and positioning the product while automating the sealing and shrinking steps that create a consistent finished multipack.
For JD Packaging, that level of automation was the right fit. It provided useful production capability without requiring the company to build a large line around the machine. The system can support changing jobs and smaller production runs, which matches the variety that comes with contract-packaging and fulfillment work.
The equipment also became a working demonstration of what JD Packaging sells. Instead of describing shrink equipment only from specifications, Jeremy can speak from actual use: how the film is loaded, how the seal is made, how the tunnel finishes the package, and what an operator experiences during a real job.
BestPack and BPX also remain available around the application, equipment, film, parts, and technical questions. That support matters to a distributor because the recommendation does not end when a machine ships.
THE OUTCOME
The biggest result is added capability. JD Packaging can now handle packaging work that might otherwise have to be turned away or outsourced, giving the business another way to support existing customers and pursue new opportunities.
Using the equipment internally also strengthens JD Packaging’s equipment business. Firsthand experience makes customer conversations more credible and practical. Jeremy is not recommending a machine he has only seen in a brochure; he understands how the process works on the floor.
The relationship with BestPack and BPX has continued beyond the original shrink system, with additional equipment and demonstration activity as JD Packaging has grown. That is the strongest proof point in the story: the equipment became useful enough to be part of the business, not just part of a sale.
For BestPack, that is what the right solution should do. It should solve the immediate packaging need while giving the customer or partner more room to grow. In JD Packaging’s case, one practical shrink system helped create more ways to say yes to customers.
One partner providing it all. That’s the BestPack Way.
